Zenas Claret was inspired by renowned wines of Bordeaux’s “Right Bank”. Our Claret is a select barrel blend of Cabernet Franc and Merlot aged more than 14 months in exclusively French white oak. Rich dark fruit, olives, and mocha blend into an opulent and lingering finish.

Exceptionally well managed vineyards at Del Rio and warm southern Oregon exposure have created spectacular fruit for 2005.  Zenas Cabernet Franc is full-bodied with rich, dense currant, smoked herbs, and distinctive leather character.  Our Cabernet Franc picks up a hint of ripe blueberry and roasted hazelnut on the finish.

Early warm temperatures in 2005 resulted in balanced ripening and intense flavors.  Modest precipitation with early morning fog in September and October added the unique complexity of botrytis, or “noble rot”, in select Riesling clusters, concentrating flavor and creating complexity in the final harvest.  Zenas Riesling displays apricot and tropical fruit with a classy citrus edge.  Subtle spice and mineral notes complement the long finish and lively acidity recognized in refined German-style Riesling.
